Behold the new site! ☺ It's squishy & all that good stuff

No images were harmed in the making of this site!

Who am I? Alexa L, web developer.

I love technology
I love technology

I love technology and the innovation it brings. I have become quite intrigued with new phones and their functionality, and enjoy watching the UI improve over iterations of phone OS. It is amazing to see how much changing one small icon or setting location can affect the usability of a product. I dislike cluttered interfaces, so was ecstatic to learn that Google had created vanilla android devices!

The Macbook life
The Macbook life

As you can tell, I love my Macbook! It has acquired quite a personality. I'm not sure what I would do without my trusty work companion. I take it with me to all the coding events I attend, and it serves me faithfully by a sunny window on the weekends, or at a local coffee shop working on a project.

A cat cliché
A cat cliché

I fulfill the age-old cliché of a developer having a cat. Her name is Sneakers, and while she is the most adorable furry thing on the planet (or maybe just that I myself own...) she can be quite a little demon as well. She loves to try and steal attention from my laptop, generally by planting herself on top of the keyboard, or wrapping around my arms.

What do I do? many things.

I build websites (mainly), or prototype apps, or tweak web designs, or research new development techniques. I also enjoy learning! (LOTS) The web is an ever-changing palette on which to paint coded awesomeness.

When you get a degree in this field, you may stop having college-enforced homework, but the learning will certainly never stop! While it may be shocking, this is one reason why I love my work so much. It keeps me on my toes and I love trying out new things.

I love photography. I enjoy the exercise it makes you take, as well as the discovery of details in things you would never notice before. Macro photography is a good thing to do for that.

I enjoy photo editing almost as much as getting out and taking pictures. When you shoot in RAW anything is possible! I like to try out different style techniques depending on the subject matter, and will fully admit that it's easier to play around with landscapes than it is with portraits.
